HP Security Blitz: New ArcSight, Fortify and TippingPoint Offerings
This week HP is making good on its promise to gel together its various security assets acquired over the last few years with the release of its expanded Security Solutions portfolio, which includes updates to its ArcSight, Fortify and TippingPoint security products. The new additions will help VARs and service providers offer a more comprehensive risk management selection to help enterprises assess, transform, manage and optimize their security investments.
The backbone of the release is the HP Intelligence and Risk Management platform, which now includes a refresh on the security information and event management (SIEM) capabilities from the new HP ArcSight Express 3.0, featuring improved correlation, log management and activity monitoring features. The new HP Reputation Security Monitor will also give HP ArcSight clients a real-time list of known bad IP and DNS addresses to combat attacks that exploit web application vulnerabilities. Layered on top of that is the updated HP Fortify Software Security Center, which gives organizations a comprehensive application security testing tool for on-premises or on-demand vulnerability testing.
Finally, the platform also includes HP TippingPoint Web Application Digital Vaccine 2.0 service, which gives organizations the capability to protect commercial and custom-built online applications with real-time identification of vulnerabilities in web applications, and delivery of virtual patches until a fix can be developed. The updated WebAppDV 2.0 filters with Adaptive Web Application Firewall (WAF) Technology help discriminate between normal network activity and malicious traffic.

While these new releases are sure to open up more security market opportunities to its channel partners, the company also announced a spate of new security services that some managed service providers may view as competitive, including information security management services, end point threat management, and SIEM services.
Regardless of how customers source their security solutions, it is clear they've got to do something better to manage their risks. In new survey data also released by HP today, more than half of senior business and technology executives said they believe that security breaches at their organizations have increased in the last year.
