Top Trends the Channel Needs to Watch in 2017

As more companies invest in cloud computing and digital transformation in 2017, service providers and resellers need to think about expanding their capabilities to play a greater role in their customers' new initiatives. A Red Hat survey of 268 customers finds that the majority of them are embracing digital capabilities to create new business models, services and products. They also are making bigger investments in the cloud, security and compliance, and big data analytics. That presents a great opportunity for service providers that specialize in these areas, while value-added resellers may be able to leverage planned investments in software-defined storage to boost their bottom lines. The "Red Hat Global Customer Tech Outlook 2017" indicates that the biggest sales opportunities in 2017 may focus on some of their customers' biggest challenges, such as the cloud and enterprise security. IT management, automation and orchestration also represent big funding priorities for this year. However, investment in traditional legacy IT is expected to drop precipitously over the next two years.
