Jobs in the U.S. IT industry grew for the fifth consecutive month in November, according to the latest "IT Employment Tracker" released by CompTIA. Within the industry, the software and technology services sector led the charge, adding 5,400 positions. Meanwhile, the computer, electronics and semiconductor manufacturing sector reversed nine straight months of declines. Such developments helped offset declines seen in sectors such as telecommunications; data processing, hosting and related services; and other information services, including search portals. In addition, the findings shed light on the job situation for technology professionals working in all industries, with mixed results: On the positive side, overall tech employment is up, contributing to late-year positive momentum that has created a net gain of about 200,000 jobs for 2016. On a more cautionary note, job postings for IT positions dropped significantly over the last month. The findings are based on CompTIA's analysis of the Employment Situation report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
