Synnex is thinking thin.

The Fremont, Calif. distributor announced Oct. 18 that it would start to carry Wyse Technology’s line of thin-client products, including desktops, software and infrastructure.

“This partnership allows us to strengthen our existing distribution channel, while opening the door for Wyse to explore new reseller relationships, and to expand our presence in the thin computing arena,” Tarkan Maner, president of worldwide field operations for Wyse, said in a statement.

Thin-client computers have enjoyed a modest comeback as enterprises and CIOs have begun to take a second look at thin-client desktops as a viable solution.

In addition, thin-client vendors, which include Wyse, Hewlett-Packard and Dell, have been touting the advantages of thin-client technology as a more secure solution.

On Oct. 17, Wyse’s rival, Neoware of King of Prussia, Pa., introduced its thin-client notebook line.

In addition to Synnex, Wyse got another boost in the distribution channel when Arrow Electronics announced it would acquire Alternative Technology, which had been distributing Wyse’s thin-client products.
