Managed security service provider Perimeter Internetworking acquired smaller rival, Message Secure, thereby adding finance clients and regional presence, both firms announced Jan. 29.

The purchase, Perimeter’s ninth in three years, gives the MSP 200 new financial clients, bringing its total in the space to 1,900 customers and improves the Milford, Conn. firm’s coverage in California and Massachusetts, Perimeter said.

Message Secure provides managed e-mail security and compliance software for community finance institutions.

“Perimeter’s acquisition strategy has allowed us to assemble the talent, technology and scale to provide the industry’s leading suite of on-demand security services,” said Brad Miller, CEO of Perimeter.

Perimeter will maintain Message Secure’s head office in Lowell, Mass., and Message Secure president Cary Conrad will stay on to ensure a smooth transition, Perimeter said.
