  • Microsoft Introduces Free Hosting Program

    Microsoft Corp. of Redmond, Wash., has announced a free program that provides hosting companies with tools and resources to help them deploy and manage Microsoft products.

    Benefits include download access to the Microsoft solution for Windows-based Hosting and the solution for Hosted Messaging and Collaboration, as well as product updates, technical information and case studies, marketing resources, and toolkits.

    The goal of the program, said Pascal Martin, general manager of worldwide hosting at Microsoft, is to allow hosting service providers to more rapidly deploy Microsoft-based solutions.

  • Maxtor, LSI Logic Join Forces to Drive SAS Adoption by Channel

    Maxtor Corp. and LSI Logic Corp., both of Milpitas, Calif., have banded together promote SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) to resellers and solution providers.

    Together, they are offering a bundled solution consisting of the Maxtor Atlas ASA hard drive family and LSI Logic’s SAS HBAs (host bus adapter), expanders, RAID controllers and ASIC initiators.

    In addition, the two companies are offering several channel-related services, including a Web seminar and special pricing on bundled products.

  • Verio Partners with Arsenal

    Verio, a managing hosting solution provider based in Englewood, Colo., has partnered with Arsenal Digital Solutions, a storage management services provider in Cary, N.C., to deliver a variety of storage and data protection solutions to small and midsize businesses.

    Under the terms of the agreement, Verio will provide off-site data backup and restore services, three levels of a fully managed server backup and restore service, managed Storage Area Network solutions, and offline and online database backup services.

  • Bell Micro Acquires European Storage Distributor

    Bell Microproducts Inc. of San Jose, Calif., has agreed to acquire MCE, a Munich, Germany-based distributor of disk drives and components.

    By acquiring MCE, Bell Micro hopes to expand its presence in continental Europe and the United Kingdom, said Don Bell, Bell Micro’s president and CEO.

    Ontrack Data Recovery of Minneapolis, Minn., has announced that it has signed to more resellers to market its PowerControls mailbox recovery software tool.

    Programmer’s Paradise Inc. is a marketer of technical software and hardware based in Shrewsbury, Conn., while Salt Lake City, Utah-based Revinetix Inc. specializes in data backup and recovery solutions for small and medium-sized businesses.

    Anacomp Inc. of San Diego, Calif., will provide onsite maintenance and logistics services in the U.S. and UK for installations using 3PAR InServ Storage Servers.
