Further shoring up its services organization on the heels of a reorganization around customer segments,
Dell has announced that it has acquired the Microsoft IT consulting and
solutions portions of IT solution provider Allin.

The acquisition of those parts of the Pittsburgh-based Microsoft Gold Partner
Allin for $12 million in stock brings 100 of the company’s 170 employees over
to Dell’s service business, and gives Dell an expanded services presence in Pittsburgh;
Philadelphia; San
Jose, Calif.; and Walnut
Creek, Calif.  Allin’s
financial services and interactive media practices were not part of the deal.

Allin’s expertise includes Microsoft infrastructure, collaboration and business
applications, Dell and Allin said in a prepared statement.

“This is an exciting opportunity for the Allin employees who are part of the
acquisition. They will have the opportunity to more effectively scale their
client services teams and suite of services they currently have to a broader
set of customers,” says Rich Talarico, chairman and CEO
of Allin, in a statement announcing the deal.

“We will focus our services in the vertical markets we serve and look forward
to continuing the collaboration between these operations and the Dell team,” he
adds.
