You may be astonished to find out which U.S. states are enjoying the biggest growth in technology jobs in the first half of this year. Hint: Although California still has the largest tech workforce and continues to be a hotbed for IT entrepreneurs and innovation, the state was not among the fastest growers. The three biggest states for both tech job growth and newly created IT positions are all in the Deep South, according to recently released research from online jobs and career site Dice.com. Other regions on the fast track include the Pacific Northwest, from which the two remaining states among the top five emerge, according to the Dice figures, which were compiled primarily through data provided by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. In addition to the Dice results, Channel Insider offers a sampling of VARs and other tech firms with headquarters in each of the states. Note that the selected companies do not necessarily reflect "biggest" in terms of employment or annual revenue. Our goal is to list a handful of notable, local companies that offer a range of tech products and services. Also, many of these companies have offices throughout the United States.
