HP: 'Not So Fast, Cisco!'
As if Cisco’s data center initiatives and moving into the server arena weren’t enough this year, HP also made some moves to infiltrate Cisco territory, most notably announcing plans to acquire 3Com for $2.7 billion.

HP not only gets the networking products to fill out its data center and ProCurve portfolio, it also gets a significant portfolio of security products and a path to more significant operations in China.

HP said that the acquisition would create a networking industry powerhouse and give VARs a choice in the networking space that has been dominated by a single vendor. Don’t expect this to be the last shot in the escalating war of Cisco versus HP.
