EMC’s SourceOne information governance family of modular, integrated products offer archiving, compliance and e-discovery functions which can be used with newly launched Microsoft Sharepoint 2010.
Channel Insider spoke with Raphael Meyerowitz, AVP, Data Center Technical Services, Northeast, Presidio Networked Solutions, the fifth largest US VAR with 1,200 employees and revenues of $1.2 billion. He says customers are looking more at SourceOne because "email systems are growing out of control. They have terabytes and terabytes of data."
Mike Alsup, Senior Vice President, Gimmal Group, states they have many clients that have adopted and deployed SharePoint and are struggling with rapid content growth. "The value that EMC SourceOne for SharePoint brings is in helping our customers drive down their storage costs while enhancing the performance of SharePoint by off-loading inactive content from the SQL Servers that support it. In addition, our customers can ensure that any content that gets moved out of SharePoint and into a long term archive is being managed according to specific retention policies."
Another partner, International Computerware Inc., has had tremendous success driving EMC SourceOne deals over the past year. Says Jamie Shepard, Executive Vice President of Technology Solutions. "With the new EMC SourceOne for SharePoint, we are able to continue our IT governance strategy by introducing information governance for SharePoint in our customer conversations. We’re extremely excited about this because it opens up additional opportunities for us to increase our business and to help guide our customers’ strategy for IT governance."
