Smarter and Greener

2009 was a green year for many tech companies. Not green in terms of cash, unfortunately--the economic downturn solidified that-- but with eco-friendly initiatives and smart technology deployments that helped vendors and enterprises make significant headway in protecting the planet and deployment futuristic technologies. Companies like Fujitsu and IBM spent millions making their data centers greener and healthier for the planet. Big Blue also forged the way with smart software technologies that collaborate and analyze data from multiple sources to achieve operations only previously seen in sci-fi movies. Look to 2010 for more Smarter Planet initiatives that fuse remote monitoring technologies, smart devices and service oriented architecture to make highways less congested and improve national security initiatives.
