Marie Meoli Rourke, WhiteFox PR
Marie Meoli Rourke’s name is perhaps synonymous with the term "channel PR." In fact, that’s her handle on Twitter: @channelPR. What started out as a tiny agency serving her former employer, Ingram Micro, Rourke’s firm, Whitefox PR, has expanded to serve a broader client base of vendors, solution providers and other channel companies.

But Rourke’s talents go deeper and wider than bullet points on a resume. She is on every reporter’s speed dial and instant message buddy list.  She’s a master networker who is often asked to serve as a matchmaker between solution provider and channel press, employer and job candidate, technology and story. Rourke has developed real relationships with the people in media, forgoing the form e-mails in favor of phone calls, jokes and an understanding of what reporters need.

Rourke also built a specialty around managed services, representing N-Able, for example, and deftly moving through this aspiring channel and the press that covers it with a rich knowledge about what the business model means to the industry.

Jessica Davis covers the channel for eWeek and Channel Insider. Her technology journalism career began well before anyone heard of the World Wide Web and has included stints at Infoworld, Electronic News/EDN, and the Philadelphia Business Journal. Her work has also appeared on CNN and Forbes.com. She has covered hardware, software and networking, as well as the business side of technology. She has won several journalism awards, including a national ASBPE award for best staff-written column, and was named Marketing Computers hardest working tech journalist on their inaugural list of top tech journalists.
