Ever since it first started sniffing around the remote monitoring and management (RMM) market , Spiceworks has been siphoning SMB prospects and customers away from Autotask. Now with its Request for Quote service, Spiceworks is at it again, competing with Autotask's VARStreet program.
With its hands simultaneously in the pies of the IT administrative tools development, IT online community development and technology advertising markets, Spiceworks has built its business on bucking trends and evading market definitions within the technology industry. This has kicked up plenty of healthy competition in a wide range of technology niches. Not surprisingly, that's made Spiceworks a target for some who have had their businesses disrupted.
