There must be something in the air. As sure as New Year arrives every Jan. 1 and the groundhog looks for its shadow every Feb. 2, so do channel executives seem to move from job to job as vendors get ready to roll out the year's channel enhancements.

And 2008 is no exception. Here are some of the moves:

The channel's beloved Rauline Ochs recently announced that she would depart from Oracle to join one of its large customers.

At Avaya Donny Ward is in and Ken Archer is out as the company's vice president of North American channels.

Cisco recently shuffled its channel executives, too, with Chuck Robbins, segment vice president for U.S. and Canada channels, promoted to senior vice president of commercial, Cisco's SMB division that serves businesses with 1,500 or fewer employees. To fill the void Wendy Bahr, formerly vice president of U.S. commercial channels at Cisco will take over Robbins old role, Cisco announced last week.

And now SonicWall has a new chief, too. The company announced last week that Marvin Blough was promoted to vice president of worldwide sales, succeeding John DiLullo who is leaving the company. Blough previously led the North American sales organization, and for the last two years he headed up the European sales team, leading the group to record revenue growth. He's been with the company for eight years. DiLullo spent two years with SonicWall, joining the company from Cisco, where he served as vice president channels, worldwide distribution.
