As organizations look to transform themselves into digital entities that enjoy better relationships with their customers, just about every aspect of enterprise IT is undergoing a transformation. Although most companies have made significant progress, they still have a long way to go, according to the findings of a new survey conducted by industry research firm TechValidate on behalf of BMC Software. For solution providers across the channel, what's significant to remember is that organizations these days are not so much looking for a particular technology as much they are seeking strategic advice concerning how to use technology to transform their businesses. Without that strategic imperative, it becomes difficult to maintain funding levels for IT projects. The good news is that when it comes to making those transformations, companies for the most part are showing steady progress. Areas where there seems to be more focus include IT automation frameworks, IT monitoring tools, mobile computing and security. The challenge is turning all those IT investments into a digital business strategy in which the whole is worth much more than the sum of any of the parts. Here's a look at key takeaways from the study, which is based on a survey of 103 IT managers at Fortune 1000 companies.
