The top IT certifications continue to change with the times. Other areas of IT are seeing similar changes. As security threats and vulnerabilities force constant change of applications and systems, configuration management has become more important than ever, said Patrick Lane, senior manager, product development, CompTIA. "Persistent security risks require persistent IT system changes, and the failure to ensure that all aspects of an IT system's components are addressed can result in downtime or data exfiltration." There also has been a transition to more "IT-related managerial certifications that ensure proper planning and continuous improvement of IT project life cycles," added Lane. The top credentials also show the continued importance for IT professionals to have both vendor-specific and open-source skills. With input from Lane, Channel Insider looks at how 10 major certifications (listed alphabetically) address new technology and market needs.
