"There's a much broader opportunity to more fundamentally change the backup and archive applications and processes around dedupe," said Matthew Kixmoeller, senior director, product marketing for NetBackup at Symantec. "We're seeing an obesity problem around data right now. It's been exacerbated by the combination of data growth and the economy . . . people are feeling the squeeze between meeting data storage objectives with a lower budget."
