Ingram Micro Seismic
Think distributors are just about product fulfillment? Think
again. Back in 2006, IT distribution giant Ingram Micro, recognizing
that MSPs made better margins than transactional VARs, looked for a way
to help its partners get started with managed services. That’s when
Ingram Micro’s Seismic offering was born through a partnership with
managed services platform provider Level Platforms.
Led by Justin Crotty, vice president of services for Ingram Micro
North America, the Seismic service has since added a number of
components that can be purchased a la carte by VARs and resold to
customers. Seismic now includes services such as hosted Microsoft
Exchange from Intermedia, print monitoring and management services,
instant recovery on demand through CA, and managed security services,
among others.
For those who are still on the fence, Seismic is currently offering
a free three-month trial of its network operating center service. It’s
all about getting VARs aboard to a higher-margin business, according to
Crotty, who urges VARs to dip their toe in by choosing just one service
to offer to end customers on a trial basis.
