Organizations Still Passing Around Data Insecurely

How are your customers managing the movement of files and important corporate data both within and outside the company firewall? If they're anything like the bulk of respondents recently surveyed by Lexington, Mass.-based IPswitch File Transer, probably not very well.

It’s Personal

66% use personal e-mail to send work-related files.

File Shuffling

Just over a quarter admit to sending proprietary files to personal e-mail accounts with the intent to use that data at their next place of employment.

No Alternative?

Almost half of respondents say they don't provide employees with a safe, convenient way to send files instead of thumb drives and e-mail.

Policies Lacking

51% of organizations have no established policies for sending files internally.And just 53% of companies have any kind of policies set for transferring files externally.

No Visibility

More startling: 70% of respondents have no visibility into files moving out of their organization.64% have no visibility into files moving internally, either.
