Norman announced the availability of Endpoint Protection 9, an IT security defense system that protects PCs and servers against malware threats. Endpoint Protection is designed to deliver threat protection for small to medium-size businesses (SMBs) and, using a new multilevel architecture, scales to serve larger, more complex enterprise networks. Security policies may be set and managed centrally across multiple sites.

Endpoint Protection installs in minutes, and its user interface displays all clients and servers in a network. All computers are updated with the latest protection and stay secure while reporting status to the Endpoint Manager console application. The Endpoint Manager also offers drag-and-drop actions for group handling and security policy management.

"This latest version of Norman Endpoint Protection delivers the most sophisticated IT protection available," said Audun Lodemel, vice president of Norman’s marketing and business development division. "The advanced architecture makes it extremely easy to manage any size network, while ensuring a lower cost of ownership experience."

In addition, the platform comes with the company’s SandBox and DNA Matching technologies. These proactive security technologies protect against new and unknown malware and other persistent threats, keeping endpoints safe. Endpoint Protection is engineered to stop all kinds of malware threats, including viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware, adware, bots, zero-day threats and rootkits.

In October, the company announced an enhancement to its email security solution that gives end users higher visibility and control over quarantined messages. Direct Quarantine is a Microsoft Outlook add-on for Norman Email Protection that is designed to relieve IT administrators of day-to-day quarantine management. Users have access to quarantined email messages in real time—maintaining full security protection—and may use Outlook functions such as the built-in search tool to locate specific email. Users receive a full view of messages in text or HTML, including a list of attachments. All dangerous content is disabled, keeping the PC and network secure.

Direct Quarantine Server integrates with Microsoft Exchange, and clients are deployed through Active Directory Group Policy. The Direct Quarantine server works with Exchange server and is deployed through Active Directory Group Policy with a single install package for Outlook versions 2003, 2007 and 2010.  Norman solutions include Security Suite for consumers and a portfolio for business and government, including Endpoint Protection, Network Protection, patch management, device control and application control.
