SMC's Instant Hot Spot Melds Wired, Wireless Worlds - Features of the SMCWHSG14-G

The SMCWHSG14-G is a multifunctional, manageable, all-in-one hot-spot solution designed to make it easy and affordable for businesses to provide secure, password-protected Internet access to customers either as a value-added service or to generate additional revenue.

The device supports up to 100 simultaneous wireless and wired users through an integrated four-port 10/100M-bps LAN switch and 802.11g WAP (wireless access point). The unit incorporates a Web-based management interface and setup wizard for easy step-by-step configuration. Host networks are protected from unauthorized access by comprehensive security that includes a NAT (Network Address Translation)-based firewall, MAC (media access control) address filtering, 64- and 128-bit WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) and WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) encryption and AAA (authentication, authorization and accounting) services for both wired and wireless clients.

The SMCWHSG14-G can be placed on a desktop, mounted on a wall or deployed most anywhere, thanks to support for POE (power over Ethernet), which eliminates the need for a separate power supply. The included POS printer supports ticket and receipt printing and supports the use of flexible billing methods by connecting to a variety of common Internet-based payment gateways. Customizable log-on and log-off pages can be combined with portal pages, and advertisement page delivery via the Web can also be implemented.
