    Toshiba Protege R500

Picking a notebook computer is a lot like picking a new car. It’s up to the end user to figure out what matters most; economy, performance, price and so on are all factors. Channel Insider looked at a gaggle of notebook computers this year, ranging from atom powered netbooks to desktop replacement behemoths, and one particular system stood out above them all—the Toshiba Protege R500 ultraportable. The unit’s good performance, decent battery life, SSD and 2.5-pound travel weight make it the ideal companion for the traveling executive. What’s more, the unit’s $3,000 price tag and Toshiba’s high margins make the R500 very channel friendly.
