Tech Data will add Fujitsu's notebooks, laptops, and convertible, ultramobile and tablet PCs to its portfolio, becoming the only U.S. distributor to offer Fujitsu's entire line of hardware.

The distributor already offers Fujitsu's server and storage products, including the vendor's Primergy servers and Eternus SAN storage systems, said Richard McCormack, vice president of marketing at Fujitsu. While Synnex has offered the mobility products for about 12 months, Tech Data is the only U.S. distributor to offer the entire Fujitsu line.

The Fujitsu LifeBook series of notebook and convertible PCs and the Stylistic tablet PCs will be sold under Tech Data's Client Systems Solutions Group, said Leslie Malone, director of Tech Data Client Systems product marketing. Malone said the Client Systems Solutions group was formed about 12 months ago and encompasses all mobile computing products, desktops, workstations and handhelds.

Malone said the mobile area has seen good growth over the past year. "Mobile is hot, and in the channel we've also seen a lot of growth within the thin-client space," she said. She added that VARs now have the opportunity to tie the mobility products into Tech Data's server and storage products to create a total distributed computing infrastructure.

McCormack said the latest agreement would make it easier for resellers to access and sell Fujitsu's entire line of products. While Tech Data resellers have the opportunity to bring their customers individual servers, storage and now mobile PCs and notebooks, he said, Fujitsu hoped that resellers would focus on building total solutions based on Fujitsu products.

Malone said that Tech Data resellers will also be able to offer service, support and warranty agreements along with the mobility products. She said that the warranty services will be tied in with Tech Data's MyOpportunityTracker, which tracks customer warranty agreements and alerts resellers automatically when the agreements are about to expire.
