Comprehensive program developed to assist resellers with public sector opportunities, distributor says. Resellers will have access to education and training programs to help them navigate the many rules related to selling into the public sector.

ScanSource POS & Barcoding, an international value-added distributor of automatic identification and data capture and point-of-sale solutions and services and sales unit of ScanSource Inc., has created a comprehensive program, Government Source, designed to educate and assist American resellers with business opportunities in the public sector, including healthcare, education and federal, state and local government.

Through the Government Source program, ScanSource resellers have access to education and training programs to help them become more learned on the many rules related to selling into the public sector, the players in these key markets, as well as avenues for finding and competing for the available opportunities.

"The terminology and contracting mechanisms are very different from the commercial environment, so educating resellers on this for state and local government is very important," explained Jeff Yeltson, president, ScanSource POS & Barcoding, in Greenville, S.C. "For instance, in some cases resellers have to be certified to bid on an opportunity before they can participate in the procurement process and not everyone can be certified. It's important that resellers know how to engage their particular state or agency -- as they all have somewhat different processes. Resellers need to know the questions to ask and the terminology to use, and our program can help with that."
