Channel News and Analysis: OnForce: Prices Stabilize, Break/Fix Work Still Dominates in Q2


OnForce’s second quarter report on service volumes and prices for technology services showed that pricing still remains under pressure but work order pricing began to stabilize at the end of Q2.
 
  • Online technology services marketplace OnForce’s second quarter report on service volumes and prices for various technology services showed that pricing still remains under pressure as it has for the past several quarters, but work-order pricing began to stabilize at the end of Q2.
    That’s good news for the marketplace’s service providers. Here’s what else the second quarter results showed.
  • Biggest work order volume in Q2, by category:
    PC Desktop 32% (29% in Q1)
    TV/Video 19 % (23% in Q1)
    Network 13% (16% in Q1)
    Printer 9% (11% in Q1)
  • OnForce says that while the hourly rate for VoIP/Telephony work was almost double that of any other category, the area still experienced pricing pressure that hurt many of the categories. Work order value for VoIP/Telephony dropped from $359 to $271.
    Meanwhile, average work order value for the PC Desktop category dropped from $114 to $101.
  • Average work order value categories that saw an up tick in pricing included
    Network/Server up 19%
    Other up 11.8%
    Security up 7.6%
    Peripheral up 12.4%

  • In terms of service volume the top states were:
    California, served by 1,311 technicians
    Texas, served by 1,120 technicians
    Florida, served by 1,124 technicians
    New York, served by 1,604 technicians
    Illinois, served by 819 technicians
  • States with lowest service volumes were:
    Oklahoma served by 342 technicians
    Wisconsin, served by 537 technicians
    Massachusetts, served by 639 technicians
    Alabama, served by 455 technicians
    Tennessee, served by 438 technicians
  • Top cities in terms of volume were:
    Houston
