Kaseya unveiled an upgrade to its managed services platform that includes advances in back-up, disaster recovery and remote control and the addition of an endpoint security module.

The new end point security module comes to the Kaseya platform through an OEM agreement with security company Grisoft AVG 7.5 for its anti-malware product line. The Kaseya end point security (KES) module can be configured, deployed and managed from the Kaseya interface. MSPs can centrally manage security profiles defined and deployed to managed computers, the company said.

"This is our first completely integrated managed security solution," said Jim Alves, executive vice president of product marketing. "It provides full centralized management."

And it offers multi-level checks in real time of registry, file systems and e-mail, plus on-demand scanning of disk drives, folders, files and system areas for Windows servers, workstations and notebooks.

The new module includes anti-virus, virus, Trojan and worm protection; spyware, adware and malware protection, centralized management; executive and detailed reporting; integrated monitoring and alarms; an automatic threat removal engine; email protection; and automated program and database updates.

Kaseya estimates MSPs with 1000 machines under management can realize a revenue service opportunity of $40,000 and an annual profit from that of approximately $28,400

Kaseya has also announced updates to its overall managed services platform, Kaseya 4.8. The update broadens the support of the company's back-up and disaster recovery with a universal restore capability, plus adds several new capabilities requested by users, such as enhanced support for Microsoft Vista. Kaseya has included the Enterprise VNC remote control package in the new version of its platform software.

The new version also includes updates to patch management, network and systems monitoring and adds Portuguese language support.
