The appeal of managed services for solution providers centers around the reduction in costs afforded by the ability to monitor and manage IT environments remotely. For end users, the attraction has to do with a combination of cost savings and increased computing reliability.

In a new white paper, "Green IT: Managed Services the Next Big Thing," managed-services vendor LPI Level Platforms argues that using its RMM (remote monitoring and management) platform translates to a greener approach to technology for solution providers and customers alike. It's not a new idea. Rival Kaseya started pushing the green angle of managed services in the spring, and what Level Platforms is arguing actually applies to managed services as a whole.
