    Network Associates and Check Point join forces for SMB solutions; Applied Micro Circuits Acquires PowerPC IP; Electrograph and NTP Software both improve their reseller channel offering; and Veritas and Sun expand their Solaris Alliance.

    Network Associates, Check Point Offer Security Solution for SMBs

    SANTA CLARA, Calif.—Intrusion prevention solutions provider Network Associates and Internet security company Check Point Software announced the availability of McAfee Secure-1, a managed gateway and desktop security solution for small businesses. The integrated solution provides an affordable way to protect company data. Secure-1 provides a way for small businesses to outsource the burden of their firewall and anti-virus security management. It combines Check Point Safe@Office, a high-speed security appliance with SofaWare embedded technology, with McAfee VirusScan ASaP, a managed virus protection service. McAfee Secure-1 is immediately available to McAfee solution providers in the United States through Ingram Micro US.

    Applied Micro Circuits Acquires PowerPC Intellectual Property, Products

    SAN DIEGO—Applied Micro Circuits completed the acquisition of intellectual property and a portfolio of products and other assets associated with IBM's 400 series of embedded PowerPC standard products, in addition to a Power Architecture license. The PowerPC 400 series product line delivers performance and a rich mix of features for Internet, communication, data storage, consumer and imaging applications. AMCC provides building blocks for the communication, processing, transport and storage of information.

    Electrograph Incentive Program Embraces Reseller Channel

    HAUPPAUGE, N.Y.—Electrograph Systems, a distributor of display technology solutions and plasma display monitors, launched an incentive program through which authorized resellers can earn "ElectroPoints" when they sell a Pioneer PDP-503CMX. Resellers can accumulate points for larger incentive items until the program ends or while supplies last. The program ends July 30.

    NTP Software Debuts New Channel Program

    NASHUA, N.H.—NTP Software, a provider of storage resource management, announced a new channel program that focuses on increasing worldwide reseller presence and providing resources that will lead to profitable business opportunities. The NTP Software Channel Program features Channel Builder and Channel Partner tiers. The Channel Builder level is for strategic resellers looking to partner with NTP and become an NTP Software Champion. The Channel Partner program is for resellers seeking a partnership with NTP to bring their value add to NTP's software. The program encompasses discounts, rebates, leads disbursement and tracking, and technical and sales training, as well as a complete offering of joint marketing events and activities.

    Veritas, Sun Expand Alliance Around Solaris Operating System

    MOUNTAIN VIEW and SANTA CLARA, Calif.—Veritas Software and Sun Microsystems agreed to expand their decade-long global alliance. Veritas will broaden its support for the Solaris platform to include Sun's Solaris Operating System for x86 systems, for both AMD Opteron- and Intel-based platforms. The agreement also includes an expanded reseller relationship, where customers can acquire Veritas' next-generation Foundation 4.0 software storage management solution through their Sun representative.
