Tech Data established its AIS Division in January 2007 to help its resellers capitalize on the demand for blade servers, storage, server virtualization and other data center technologies. AIS supports resellers selling virtualization technology from VMware, Citrix XenServer, Parallels and Virtual Iron. Tech Data veteran Peterson was chosen to head up the new division.

Peterson joined Tech Data in 1996 as director of Sales Planning and has held positions as head of Business Operations for Tech Data's Outsourcing division and vice president, East and Government sales, the company's largest sales division.

Before joining Tech Data, Peterson held management positions with Bristol-Myers Squibb, Honeywell and Polaroid. Peterson earned a master's degree in business administration from Florida State University and a bachelor's degree in accounting from Tuskegee University.
