Microsoft Windows Server 2008 promises to deliver simplified server management and enhanced security, as well as resource optimization and server consolidation through support of built in virtualization technology. But before an organization can realize these benefits, it must first evaluate its server hardware situation to determine which existing servers can run the new OS. Knowing that, an organization can then estimate what new hardware will be needed to migrate to the new operating system.
