David Donatelli, former president of EMC's storage division, will become the executive vice president of HP's enterprise servers, storage and networking.

HP has brought on David Donatelli, former president of EMC's storage division, to serve in the role of executive vice president of enterprise servers, storage and networking. According to analysts, this appointment is a sign that HP has plans to give its servers, storage and networking business a jumpstart. Donatelli began in his new role at HP effective May 5th, 2009.

Charles King, principal analyst of Pund-IT, noted that HP has done well in its PC and printer division, as well as in the various x86 server product segments it has entered, but at the higher end and in storage, as well as in its new emerging network division, the company hasn't kept pace with competitors.
