HP also revved its Compaq “b” and “s” series notebooks, introducing a number of design and feature changes for its business-class machines.
The updated HP Compaq 6530b and HP Compaq 6535b are designed for the highly mobile worker, delivering HP Mobile Broadband, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity in a sleek, silver, 14.1-inch notebook with a magnesium alloy skeleton and weighing just 5.3 pounds.
For those who want a larger screen, the 5.9-pound HP Compaq 6730b and HP Compaq 6735b boasts a 15.4-inch wide-screen display, along with similar security and connectivity—not to mention the slick, silver metallic surface—of the 6530s.
HP’s five new updated “s” series notebooks take on a more modern look with updated black-on-black

finish. They come with enhanced security and data protection features such as Drive Encryption for HP ProtectTools, which makes sensitive data unreadable if the notebook gets lost or stolen, and HP 3D DriveGuard, to detect sudden jolts and protect the hard drive if the machine gets dropped.
The “s” series notebooks range from the HP Compaq 6530s, a 14.1-inch, entry-level notebook for small and midsize business users, to the HP Compaq 6830s with its larger 17-inch wide-screen display, bolstered graphics processing and memory, and the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processor.
All of HP’s new business notebooks are expected to be available by late July starting at $799 for the “s”-series notebooks to $1,179 for the HP EliteBook series.
