    CapGemini and SAP are teaming up to offer a new line of software as a service and platform as a service mobility solutions based on the Sybase Mobility platform.

    SAP announced that it is teaming with long-time partner and consulting powerhouse Capgemini to roll out a new line of software as a service and platform as a service mobility solutions based on the Sybase Managed Mobility platform, many of which will support the overall push by SAP to support mobile access to its back-end systems through mobile devices.

    “Mobility is a real game changer for the enterprise, and we anticipate that 1 billion people will be unlocking additional value from their SAP back-office systems via their mobile devices and tablets,” says Chris McClain, senior vice president, of SAP's Global Mobility and Sybase Solutions division.

    Capgemini will be able deliver its new mobile solutions through Sybase ether as on-premise solutions or in hosted environments through public or private clouds. Capgemini will offer mobile device management based on Sybase Afaria, including maintenance, hosting and implementation support. Meanwhile, it will use Sybase Unwired Platform to develop mobile applications for its customers and it will deliver mobile enterprise application platform services through the partnership.

    Most notably, Capgemini plans a managed mobility service that will offer end-to-end solutions for monthly fees that will pay for mobility software from SAP, hosting and application support.

    A consultancy with decades of experience in mobility and an history with SAP, Capgemini has won SAP Pinnacle Awards the past two years in a row and supports 2,500 SAP customers globally.  The new deal between the two companies was brokered to develop a structured go-to-market model that will have their sales team cooperate more fully when servicing customers.

    According to one executive from The Coca Cola Refreshments Company, the announcement makes sense given Capgemini's involvement in designing and implementing the next generation of SAP workflows at his company and other similar enterprises.

    “Standardizing on mobile platforms that support multiple mobile operating systems and bring fast ROI and low total cost of ownership is key to the success of our mobile strategy,” says Dirk Du Toit, group director of architecture and enabling technologies for Coca Cola.
