Merriam-Webster gives the definition of "disrupt" as "break apart," "throw into disorder" or "interrupt the normal course or unity of" something. All those terms apply to digital disruption.

At ChannelCon 2016 this past summer, speakers examined how the cloud has been the catalyst for digital disruption that has reshaped business models and led to new partnerships. At the conference, Seth Robinson, CompTIA senior director of industry analysis, said: "We see the cloud as starting something new—as the demarcation line between old ways and new."

Conference speakers emphasized how—starting with the cloud and then moving to the internet of things (IoT), robots and virtual reality—disruption is driving, and will continue to spur, a wave of change in the channel.

CompTIA is rebroadcasting sessions from the conference on Sept. 28 and 29. The ChannelCon Online rebroadcast offers a dive deep into the topics shaping the future of the channel. Register at no cost and participate virtually.

For CompTIA-certified professionals, many sessions qualify for continuing education credit toward certification renewal.
