Parrish, currently Symantec's vice president of enterprise, midmarket and channel marketing, will be vice president of Global Channel Sales and Strategy, a role Seelinger held for 18 months.
Parrish, who came to Symantec when the security vendor acquired Veritas in July, has been working with Seelinger since January, when the acquisition process began, to create a unified channel for Symantec and Veritas partners, Tom Kendra, Symantec's executive vice president of worldwide sales, said in a release Thursday.
"Symantec is focused on driving momentum in the marketplace alongside our partners, so I'm thrilled that Julie brings a successful, worldwide channel enablement track record to the table," Kendra said. "I'm confident that the cross-team collaboration and Julie's appointment will drive Symantec's channel strategy forward, taking our partner program to the next level."

Seelinger, who began her career at Symantec as a salesperson in 1987, helped establish and shape the vendor's channel as it moved from a consumer base to commercial product line. Before being appointed global channel director, she directed Symantec's North American channel programs.
She told Symantec officials she had "decided to start a new chapter in her life," leaving the security vendor to devote more time to her children and family, the company said.
